V60 - Brewing Guide

Welcome to my V60 Brewing Guide for Beginners

Because i know a few things about coffee i sometimes get asked of how to brew coffee at home or if i could do a little tutorial on my blog / website . So i decided to write a few different blogposts on how to brew the perfect cup at home and i will guide you through step by step with a few colourful pictures and my way of brewing…

What you need:

  • V60 Dripper

  • V60 Filter

  • Grinder

  • 21grams of grounded Beands

  • Timer

  • Scale

  • Cup, Mug, Carafe

  • and hot water (around 96 C)

Step 1 Fold

Fold the filter into a cone shape and rinse it inside the dripper with water to get rid of the paper flavor and to heat up the cup you are brewing into. Discard the rinse water.

Step 2 Grind

Grind your Coffeebeans (or use 3 to 4 tablespoons of already grinded coffee)

and add the coffee into the filter.

Step 3 Bloom

Saturate the grounds with water right off the boil . Use just enough water to cover the grounds. Let it bloom for 15 seconds. Coffee “blooms” when it’s fresh–the coffee can bubble a bit. Shake it slowly and evenly from side to side.

Step 4 Pour

Pour water in the filter - slowly and spiral. Try to add water every 20 sec to get an even extraction. If you're using a scale, you should pour until you reach 360 to 380ml.

Step 5 Enjoy

The whole procedure should be timed around 3mins. Pour the carafe into a mug and enjoy your freshly brewed coffee… but be careful, it still could be hot!
